I have a habit of being unrealistic. For those of you who know me, it's hard to believe, I know. Not sensible, head-out-of-the-clouds Megan, you might be thinking. But yes, let me tell you, it's true.
I have come to terms with, and enjoy, this fact about myself. However lately there have been a few instances of people telling me I have too high of expectations, need to get in touch with reality, and that what I'm expecting is unattainable.
They all have good points, but you know, I'm OK with spending some time in my land of make believe. I like imagining my life turning out like the end of a Drew Barrymore movie (unless it's Scream). So what if it doesn't?
Honestly, I know it probably won't. I'm not that crazy. And I'm OK with that. Really.
But until my life is over, I'm going to keep expecting and imagining the biggest and best is in store.
And in the meantime, until the Director of my life says, "Cut!" I can just rewatch the dailies of the amazing experiences I've had so far.

There she goes again
It's funny how one idea can spur on to another and then another and soon you're so far from the idea that spurred you on in the first place, it's a completely different thought altogether.
Maybe it's because when you open the door to one possibility, a whole bunch of others pour in too. Possibility doesn't like to travel alone, I guess.
I say this because a random and funny text I received from a friend last week sped up the ever turning thoughts of what direction I should go and sent me barreling forward.
I don't know if anything will come of these ideas, but that's one thing about possibility, it may pull you in a million different directions, and never actually get you anywhere, but at least it's fun to have around.

Word dreams
I can't remember what I dreamt about last night. All I know is that when I woke up, the word "pontificate," was all I could remember.
I didn't even know I knew that word, or if it even was a word, but I had a feeling of what it meant.
Pontificate stayed on my mind all day, and I just looked it up, and I was right:
Main Entry:
2pon·tif·i·cate
Pronunciation:
\pän-ˈti-fə-ˌkāt\
Function:
intransitive verb 2: to speak or express opinions in a pompous or dogmatic way
(courtesy Merriam-Webster.com)
Who dreams about words? It was a first for me. But after careful thought, I traced the word back to all of the "Cheers" reruns I watched yesterday. "Pontificate" must have come out of Diane Chambers' mouth during her one of many tangents. When she was pontificating, if you will.
And then it hit me...
I watched waaay too many "Cheers" episodes yesterday.
